Interracial Relationship

Interracial Relationship

Interracially we play fondly
Interracially we act seriously
Interracially we love one another
Interracially we hate each other
Interracially we stand united
Interracially we fall together
Interracially we are gay when near
Interracially we are miserable when apart

People are people as long as people
let then be people

Don't Forget

Don't Forget

Don't forget these hands
they built this place
Don't forget these feet
they made the journey here
Don't forget these chains
they were broken for freedom
Don't forget your history
it led us to where we are
Don't forget the motherland
she gave birth to us all
Don't forget the Father
for you will hear his voice again
So don't forget to stay true
truer than every lie told!

Ready 4 Job 3

Ready 4 Job 3

Work, Work, Work
up to cook breakfast
up to see the children off
up to work in the fields
15 minute break, one biscuit
with a bit of molasses
up to work in the fields again
up to sell the bananas
up to make dinner
up to clean the house
up to do the laundry
up to put the kids to bed
3 hours of sleep, do it all again

The Missing Ones

The Missing Ones

Missing the touch of it
Anxious to have it
Reminiscing on the taste of it
Hoping to smell the fragrance of it
Eager to possess it
Unable to control it
Too blind to see it
Can't wait to be it

Symbol 7

Symbol 7

Seven til' seven
Seven clouds in the heavens
Seven nations united
Seven armies divided
Seven churches to guide you
Seven religions to misslead you
Seven candles burning
Seven priests yerning
Seven angels singing
Seven children playing
Seven choir members crying
Seven good friends dying
Seven after seven
Seven souls in heaven

One Sunday

One Sunday they all will come
to give praise and tell many tales
                 without speaking a word.

Guardians

Guardians

She teaches me right from wrong
but she's not my teacher
She protects me from harm
but she's not my protector
She sits by me and wishes sweet dreams
but she's not my baby sitter
She guards my fragile heart from reality
but she's not my guardian
She preaches to me words from the bible
but she' not my preacher
She tells me of the beginning, the end
and the coming of someone special
but she's not the one
She's only my Mother
but she loves and cares for me as if
She's heaven sent

What do you want to know about me?

Solomon Dixon’s artwork merges African, African American cultural themes and
social consciousness, to make powerful cross cultural statements. His paintings
convey a deep sense of spirituality, majesty, dignity, strength and culture.
Solomon still believes that as an African American Artist
"We should always stay true to our culture and to help uplift the community"
